Julie Murphy, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC

Hey there,

Double board-certified · 18 years in primary care · Medical management of hormone therapy, weight loss & mental health for women 18+.

I’m Julie Murphy, and I am a double board‑certified Nurse Practitioner in Family Medicine and Psychiatric Mental Health (ANCC). I am also a Menopause Society Certified Provider (MSCP), specializing in the complex hormonal transitions of midlife.

My career began at the bedside as an RN in ICU, ER, and med‑surg units, where I cared for patients through some of their most vulnerable moments—including women recovering from cancer surgery and survivors of sexual assault as a Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner. Those early experiences shaped my commitment to compassionate, evidence‑based care.

For the past 18 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner, I’ve worked in diverse settings—from an Allergy/Immunology clinic in New York City to a rural medical clinic serving a wide range of medical needs. My primary care background spans allergy and immunology, dermatologic (skin) conditions such as rosacea, melasma, fine lines, and eczema, and endocrinology, including diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, and obesity. I’ve seen firsthand how hormonal shifts influence everything from food sensitivities and histamine intolerance to weight gain, insulin resistance, and emerging mental health concerns.

Over the last 8 years, I’ve focused on psychiatric care in New Mexico and New York, treating anxiety, ADHD, depression, and PMDD, where I’ve witnessed how midlife stressors and hormonal changes deeply affect emotional well‑being. This work has strengthened my belief that physical and mental health are inseparable—especially during perimenopause, menopause, and andropause.

My most recent professional passion has been advanced training in hormone therapy. I prescribe bioidentical hormones and testosterone tailored to each woman’s full symptom picture—including low libido, hot flashes, sleep disturbance, mood changes, and brain fog. After personally struggling to find informed, effective care during my own perimenopause journey, I became determined to fill the knowledge gap that so many patients encounter. That experience fuels my mission: to help women and men navigate midlife with clarity, confidence, and the right support.
