Double board‑certified Nurse Practitioner and menopause specialist. After struggling to get answers during my own perimenopause, I made it my mission to help others feel informed, supported, and empowered through their hormonal and mental health changes. Hormones, mental health, and whole‑person care are my passion.
Time Extended visits, not a rushed 12 minutes — because getting this right means actually listening.
Integration Hormone therapy and mental health care from one provider, one coordinated plan — not two separate specialists.
Access Direct contact with Julie between visits, not a portal message queue.
Welcome to Healing in NM LLC.
Most providers treat hormones and mental health separately. At Healing in NM, one double board-certified nurse practitioner treats both together — serving residents of New Mexico & New York, with health coaching, supplement purchasing, and lab testing available to residents everywhere.
CLINICAL FRAMEWORK
The Steps to Supporting Hormones
A four-step integrative approach to restoring hormonal health — from the gut foundation to spiritual nourishment.
Step 1 — Identify Blocks & Rebalance
The Foundation of Hormone Health
Identify the Blocks — Lab Testing
Before beginning any protocol, comprehensive testing reveals the specific blocks preventing your body from healing. Key areas to assess: Hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid panel), Nutrient Deficiencies (B12, folate, iron, vitamin D, zinc), Immune System Blocks (inflammatory markers, food sensitivities, pathogenic load), and Mental Blocks (cortisol patterns, HPA axis dysfunction). Testing provides clarity and guides personalized treatment.
Gut Health
Balance the bacteria that break down estrogen. The gut must be working properly to reduce side effects and support healthy elimination. Focus on a variety of plant-based whole foods with at least 25g of fiber daily.
Managing stress is critical. Cortisol spikes and burnout disrupt the entire hormonal system. Prioritize nervous system regulation as a foundational daily practice.
Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone help restore what the body is no longer producing in adequate amounts. Go slowly — typically introduce one at a time to assess tolerance and response.
Restore and maintain a balanced gut microbiome to support estrogen metabolism, immunity, and mood regulation.
Step 3 — Build Up the Physical Body & Mind
Strength, Balance & Mental-Emotional Health
Physical Strength
Build muscle mass, bone density, and physical balance through consistent movement and strength training — critical for longevity and metabolic health during menopause.
Mental-Emotional Health
Mindfulness, boundary setting, and learning to trust the feminine wisdom of cycles. Understanding the natural rhythm of expansion and contraction — and learning to rest — is as important as physical training.
Active stress management and improved vagal tone (through breathwork, cold water exposure, and vagal exercises) regulate the nervous system, support HPA axis function, and allow the body to shift into rest-and-digest mode — essential for hormonal healing.
Healing requires tending to unresolved wounds. Support from therapy, journaling, plant medicine, rituals, and retreats may all be incorporated. Our Psycho-Spiritual Depth course is a 12-week self-guided tool for integration — with or without psychedelic experiences.
Connect with others, find your inner child, and embrace playfulness and joy. Community and belonging are medicine.
